As a family, we are currently working & schooling in France for 3 months, and something I love here, is the slow pace. Back at home in South Africa, everything feels rushed.
Here, nobody seems to get aggravated when someone takes their time in front of the row at the cashier, everybody waits patiently while we parallel park into their tiny little parking spaces, nobody hoots impatiently while the delivery van stops in the middle of the street to deliver stock or when someone drops their card from their window at the toll gate.
Most stores close over lunch time, bakeries (boulangeries) are usually closed on Wednesdays, and you are lucky if you find a store open on a Monday.
I do think that it’s still a choice that we make ourselves, regardless of where we stay. We CAN choose to live slower amidst the fast-pace-life around us – to a certain extent. But I also think that it’s easier to live slower in a slower-paced environment.
So yes, it is easier to live slower in France, but it’s still up to us to CHOOSE to slow down WHEREVER we are 🙂

Very true. I enjoy reading your posts.
{But they must have excellent (or brave?) parking skills as well to get into that tiny space! I thought it’s a skill only Mr Bean has 😉 }
