Dear table
When I laid the plates and cutlery on you on Saturday afternoon, I didn’t mean to leave you there just like that, untouched. The plan was to have dinner on you, with our family… but as you know, that didn’t happen!
When I stepped into the house on Monday morning, you were the first thing I noticed, you stood there – just the way I left you – and it made me think.
It made me think about how naive we are – how we don’t think, not even for a moment, that things might not work out according to our little man-made plans.
Everyone was here, we prepared the meal, the kids were taking a nap, and then it happened..
Anika had her first ever (and we believe also her very last) seizure. And in a few seconds everything changed.
Warm food went into the fridge, smiles turned into worried faces and tears, little baby brother Reuben had to go to granny’s house and the set table was left untouched.
It made me realise again that ONLY God is always certain, always constant, always there. Never mind the circumstances.
Everything else can change in a heartbeat.
