Have you ever noticed how things you are not very fond of, will come and ‘just be’ in your face?!
I am not very (not at all) fond of Bougainvilleas. It reminds me of my grandparent’s farm in Deerpark close to Tzaneen. Don’t get me wrong, I have wonderful memories of them and the farm, but the not-so-nice things come to mind whenever I see a Bougainvillea… for some reason especially the orange ones!
When I see one, I think back and remember the VERY hot days, the super fine grayish dust, the loose rocks which I used to trip over, the never-ending struggle to get thorns out of my feet…
Take a guess what I look into when I look out of my office window??… Our neighbours wall is COVERED in Bougainvilleas!!! …at least it’s pink ones, but still…
Well, I’m almost too scared to “say it” out “loud”, but I think lately I’m STARTING to get used to it.. won’t say that I like it (yet), but it doesn’t bother me that much anymore!
So maybe if you have some “Bougainvillea-ish” things in life which you are not too fond of, try having it in your face for a while, maybe if you face it you will get more fond of it…
…I’m still working on the orange ones though 🙂
