Throughout my career in the Training & Development field, I’ve heard a lot of people say that “Confidence equals Competence” or “Competence equals Confidence”. And it’s true in most cases.
I just realised the other day, that this applies to all aspects of life, not only in the training field or business environment.
- Think about a relationship. Boy likes girl. He wants to ask her out, but doesn’t have the experience or know-how. If he approaches her with confidence, it will in most cases lead to achievement, which equals competence.
- Or how about entering a security complex – you don’t have permission to enter, but you stop at the gate and look the security guard straight in the eye with confidence – without even asking, the chances are high that he will open the gate for you without even asking questions.
- Job interview – speak with confidence, look confident, and you might just kick some dust in the other applicants faces – not because of your qualifications, but because of your confidence!
But most of all, we need to be confident in our faith to really, fully, live in victory!
We can do all things though Christ who strengthen us. You may feel distress, you may even feel despair. You may feel down, but you may never feel defeated.
Paul says we have unlimited resources and when we say we can’t do something, we are failing to draw on the resources that Christ provided by His loving kindness.
Be confident in Christ because HE IS COMPETENT, even if you’re not – and He is in you and you are in Him – You are victorious, it is complete, it is done, just believe it… with confidence!
