Let’s face it… we all have our bad days. The days on which everything seems to go wrong.
A special friend of mine has all the right to claim her day as a bad one today.
Her son has Spina Bifida (same condition as my daughter, Anika). He had two seizures yesterday, and another one this morning. So I’m sure that it’s fair to say that she’s having a not-so-good day today. But in the midst of this not-so-good day something good happened, and turned her not-so-good day in to a little-bit-better not-so-good day 🙂
When she stepped into the Neuro-surgeon’s rooms (while probably thinking ‘What’s the chance that he will be in his office, and if he is, what’s the chance that he’ll be able to see us without an appointment’) she was delighted to see both her sons’ Neuro-surgeon and his pediatrician sitting there! She was able to speak to both of them and together they decided to send him for a scan. Now that’s what I call a divine appointment 🙂 What’s the chance that you can speak to both of them without an appointment before 09:00 in the morning – I don’t know what you call that but I know that it’s grace!
And as if that’s not enough, she was able to get an appointment for the brain scan for this morning 10:30 – usually they are fully booked for days.
We need to start looking for those “small mercies” in our not-so-good situations. We need to celebrate every divine appointment and every gift of grace, no matter how big or small. We tend to focus so much on the negative aspects of a situation that we cannot see God’s grace in the midst of it.
Well done my friend, for celebrating the little things in life, for you know, and I know, that it’s only possible if you have the favor of God!
